Enjoy these guided strolls on the Museum’s bucolic 36-acre site and learn about the historic buildings on its property, including Linwood House, an 1859 Berkshire Cottage, and Norman Rockwell’s own Stockbridge Studio. We’ll also explore the sculptural installations of Peter Rockwell, a noted stone carver and historian, and the artist’s youngest son. Free for Museum members, or included with Museum admission.

Festival Day: Celebrating the Four Freedoms

Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Norman Rockwell’s Four Freedoms paintings with a day of programming that will explore these timeless artworks and the World War II period. Talks, tours, and performances will include a showing of The Cummington Story, a short documentary created in 1945 portraying the gradual absorption of members of a refugee hotel into a New England town. Music from the Great American Songbook and a performance by the Albany Berkshire Ballet will be featured. Free for Museum…

Join Curator of Education Tom Daly for a walking history tour of Stockbridge Cemetery, which boasts the burial sites of such luminaries as Norman Rockwell, Elizabeth Freeman, and the Sedgwick Family. A cider and donut reception will precede the tour on the lawn adjacent to the Old Town Hall. $5, members and children 18 and under free.

This exhibition will explore the breadth of this Golden Age artist’s career, beginning with Schoonover’s art school experiences as a student in Pyle’s classes at the newly founded Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry in Philadelphia, beginning in 1896, and his time at the Chadds Ford Summer School in 1899, where he honed his skills among other gifted Pyle pupils.
