2021 ArtWeek Open Studios
Go behind-the-scenes as artists throughout Berkshire county open their studios to the public. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn about the creation of their artworks through discussions and demonstrations of their processes. ArtWeek open studios are a fun way to interact with local artists.

NORTH ADAMS/ADAMS/CHESHIRE OPEN STUDIOS
When: September 16 | 11 AM
Where: Cheshire Glassworks, 24 South St., Cheshire
Details: Open studio event. Lampwork glass bead making demonstrations will be happening throughout the week. The shop features work of glass/jewelry artist Jill Reynolds. Also showing for the event will be the well loved Robot paintings by artist Ricky Darrell Barton. Photography, woodwork, and pottery from other Berkshire artists will be on display as well. Open regular business hours with demonstrations throughout the week. Will also be showcasing work from other local artists. Please note shop will be closed Saturday 9/18.

Where: Wit McKay Studio, Norad Mill #304, 60 Roberts Dr., North Adams
Details: Wit McKay is a visual artist who makes photography based large scale digital collages which are presented as archival pigment prints. The subject matter for the last 18 months has been concentrated on the local Berkshire County environment.

Details: We’re opening our gallery for a night of celebration. Get to know our team, view original artwork and prints by our Resident Artists, Apprentices and Interns. Make some new friends, support local art.

Details: Patricia’s Fietta’s Earthwall Designs are environmentally inspired to bring nature into your space. Her biophilic wall art works feature-preserved mosses in various colors along with bark, fungus, nuts, pinecones and many other natural elements that she will harvest in the Berkshire forests. Fietta has also completed many custom designs for architects and interior designers.

Where: The Old Stone Mill Center
Details: Leni Fried’s passionate love for printmaking spans decades. Her ‘Trees of New England series of monoprints will be debuted at The Old Stone Mill Center, a former 1860 woolen’s mill. Affordable art, notecards and hand made journals will be gratefully shared. Come celebrate art. Masks may be required for entry.

Details: Joanna Klain will discuss her techniques. She will highlight the power of “small” with a focus on the many varieties of paper and bits of imagery that she employs in her collages.

Details: Our showroom/ studio space will be open to the public for the artwork event on the weekends only. it features the artwork of George LeMaitre and Pat Fietta. George is a sculptor in several different medias. Pat does moss and fungus wall pieces.

Details: Come see a fiber artist’s studio and multiple art works! From starting with white cloth to dyed, painted, printed, abstract wall hangings. There will be lots of work and samples to see.

Where: Jaye’s Place Gallery, 7 New Hartford Road, Sandisfield
Details: Jaye’s Place Gallery featuring the works of Jaye Alison Moscariello, Jaelin Mosscarille, J Alison, Jaye Alison and more artistic personalities will be on view all of Open Studios week and beyond. All the above artists are extremely thrilled to be participating for the first time in this event. Studio will be open the duration of the 16th thru the 26th of September during these hours: Wednesdays – Mondays from 11AM to 7PM and by appointment.

Details: Starting with clay, wax, lead and found objects I sculpt spirit, emotional states, sensuality, primal forces, moments of truth. My forms reference wholeness, vulnerability, deformation, and fragmentation – so as to reflect what it is to be imperfectly human, as we ultimately exist. I try to make art more tangible, less intellectual, communicating a meaning to touch and open our hearts, to affect our being, revealing our shared humanity.

Details: Please join artists John Clarke and John Roberts at their open studio in Housatonic’s MUSE building on Saturday, September 18th from 1-8pm. MUSE is located in the old Country Curtains mill building at 430 Park St. in Housatonic, MA. Studio 2L. This event is in collaboration with Sohn Fine Art in Lenox, MA.

Details: Photography show. During car rides between MA and NJ, from 2011 to 2019, I took photographs out the passenger side of my car window. I was motivated by changes in light and the atmosphere, due to time of day or weather, being happy to have photos with blurry lines and abstract shapes.

Details: Open Studio and Artists Gallery Talk featuring Great Barrington artists Virginia Bradley, William Casper, and Chris Malcomson with Guest Collage Artist Lynn Wadsworth from St. Paul, MN. Lynn Wadsworth will discuss her work at 3pm on September 25th. Lynn Wadsworth’s collages were awarded a Minnesota Arts Board Grand to create the book “Salvages.” Both Lynn’s collages and book will be exhibited. Virginia Bradley is a contemporary abstract painter whose practice utilizes alchemy in the transformation of materials. Bradley’s new Catena Series will be featured at the Open Studio. Figurative Sculptor William Casper will be exhibiting his work. Chris Malcomson is both an abstract oil painter and watercolorist. Chris’s latest paintings bring together all that he has learned through a lifetime searching for meaning.
ArtWeek Berkshires is a collaboration of the five Cultural Districts in Berkshire County: Downtown Great Barrington, Lenox, North Adams, Pittsfield (Upstreet Cultural District), and Williamstown. Promotional support is being provided by 1Berkshire.
