Arts and Culture, Berkshire250, Exhibits

,

July 19

A life-size sculpture of W.E.B. Du Bois will be unveiled in front of the Mason Public Library in Great Barrington. The sculpture will sit at the center of a redesigned library plaza, which will feature renovated steps and a curving marble bench to welcome the community. Chesterwood, the home of sculptor Daniel Chester French, will be hosting two Du Bois events on that weekend. On Friday, July 18, sculptor Richard Blake will speak about fashioning the bronze statue and displaying the various stages of the process. On Sunday afternoon, Blake will be interviewed by historian Kendra Field on how he went about conceptualizing the Du Bois he created.
