Join MASS MoCA and Joseph Keckler in Building 4.2 for an audiovisual performance and workshop: The Voice in Performance. Referring to contemporary art and performance, as well as musical and theatrical traditions, we will consider the voice as an expressive tool, vehicle of meaning, object of admiration, and as an elusive and invisible ‘second body.’ We will touch on a variety of strategies and effects such as choral speech, ventriloquism, lip-syncing, impersonation, alter-ego, and vocal soundscape. Working both individually and in groups, participants will be invited to experiment with several techniques and ideas designed to expand the way they address the voice in their own artistic and performing practices. Musical and theatrical experience is welcomed but not required.
