Votes for Women: How Tea Sparked a Suffrage Revolution
Exhibits, History and Heritage
June 20
The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum opens its 2025 Special Exhibit titled Votes for Women: How Tea Sparked a Suffrage Revolution. The exhibit centers around an early 20th century Votes for Women tea set, generously donated by Ventfort Hall Gilded Age Mansions & Museum. This tea set was commissioned by Alva Belmont, made in Portugal, and used as both a practical and decorative tool for the 1909 Suffrage Rally and 1914 Conference of Great Women (hosted by Alva herself) at Marble House and her Chinese teahouse in Newport, Rhode Island. The exhibit runs June 20-October 31, 2025.
