Essential Job Functions
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Director will support the College’s marketing and communications efforts through leadership, collaboration, and effective communication. The Assistant Director will supervise the Graphic Designer and the Administrative Assistant II and lead a team within the Marketing department to manage the College’s brand and reputation, community engagement, and marketing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Co-develops the annual Marketing & Communications plan with Director of Marketing and Communications; sets goals and objectives to meet annual marketing plan outcomes.
- Assists with maintaining Marketing and Communications calendar of events, publicity, advertising, and communications.
- Oversees community engagement calendar and coordinates sponsorship strategy and budget.
- Collaborates with all College departments; represents Marketing department with internal and external partnerships.
- Acts as an innovative leader to build the College’s branding and marketing strategies.
- Collaborates with departments to assist in managing reputation, identifying key players, establishing goals, and coordinating actions as related to their promotional goals.
- Supports project management and serves as backup for the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Assists with the development and review of College presentations.
- Coordinates College photography needs with Graphic Designer, professional photographers, and work-study students.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.
- Works with Director of Marketing and Communications to communicate messages through the College’s emergency notification system.
- Contributes to the overall success of the College’s image by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred – i.e. digital communications, graphic design, English/communications.
- Five years of experience working in higher education.
- Three to five years of marketing and/or public relations experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and audio/video editing software.
- Experience with project management tools like Asana.
- Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- High level of computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Outstanding written and verbal skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion.
- Commitment to and understanding of community college mission.
