If I Could Live Another Century: Susan B. Anthony

Arts and Culture, History and Heritage, Performing Arts & Entertainment

April 6 | 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Muriel Dyas performs as Susan B. Anthony as she reflects on her life’s work and looks with hope towards the future. This event is based off a quote from Susan B. Anthony published in the Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, New York) on Thursday, August 28th, 1902 four years before her death in 1906. She references the final volume in the history of woman suffrage The quote reads: If I could only live another century! I do so want to see the fruition of the work for women in the past century. There is so much yet to be done, I see so many things I would like to do and say, but I must leave it for the younger generation. We old fighters have prepared the way, and it is easier than it was fifty years ago, when I first got into the harness. The young blood, fresh with enthusiasm and with all the enlightenment of the twentieth century, must carry on the work.
