Gender in Yiddish Women’s Literature

Arts and Culture, Class, Workshop, and Open Studios, Diversity and Inclusion, History and Heritage

February 8 | 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Join us for the third installment of our virtual professional development seminar series, led by Mindl Cohen, academic director at the Yiddish Book Center. This session will explore what it was like to be a woman writing poetry in Yiddish in the early twentieth century. Writers such as Anna Margolin and Celia Dropkin shared their experiences and perspectives in Yiddish poetry, and their work is as surprising, shocking, and beautiful today as it was a century ago. Mindl will guide a conversation about reading and teaching three of the most famous poems by Yiddish women writers by comparatively analyzing multiple English translations.   See the Event Website to register.
