Have a Blast Without Breaking the Bank!

Spring is on the horizon and the Berkshires beckon! Who doesn’t want to hike the beautiful Berkshire trails, indulge in a little shopping, maybe see a show or enjoy a fabulous meal? But lots of us (especially families) are sticking to a budget these days, and the last thing we want is to spend all of our vacation money on lodging. Lucky for us, there are many friendly, affordable places to stay in the Berkshires.

Take the Williamstown Motel, for instance. Centrally located in Williamstown, just minutes away from the Williams College Museum of Art and MASS MoCA, the Williamstown Motel is a long-time favorite of Williams College family, friends, and alumni. Contemplating an eleventh-hour getaway? Make sure to call the hotel directly for last-minute specials. And don’t forget to ask about their Clark Institute discount package! Another great option is Williamstown is Maple Terrace. Enjoy landscaped gardens, a heated pool, and distinctive rooms.

For a room with a view book a stay at Blue Vista Motor Lodge, which sits at the peak of Whitcomb Summit in Florida. It’s the perfect place to chase sunsets and sunrises as all 17 guest rooms face the stunning mountain view – you can also watch from the comfort of an Adirondack chair by the fire pit. (New amenities are on the horizon! As of March 2023, the lodge website says a sauna and hot tubs are coming soon.)

Or try the Weathervane Motel in Lanesborough. Just a hop skip and a jump away from downtown Pittsfield – where you can catch a show at Barrington Stage Company or Berkshire Theatre Group – the Weathervane prides itself on being one of the oldest and most affordable motels in the region. Newly renovated efficiency suites with kitchens offer even more opportunities to embrace frugality when you make your own coffee in the morning or stash your snacks in your room’s mini-fridge! Feel like laying low after a long day of hiking, biking, or soaring down the mountain at Jiminy Peak’s Mountain Adventure Park? Unwind with a complimentary HBO film or lounge in their outdoor Adirondack chairs.

Traveling with your pup? Book a stay at the Briarcliff Motel outside quint and charming Great Barrington. You can hike to the summit of the beloved Monument Mountain, treat yourself to comfort food at Prairie Whale, and then enjoy a classic film or live performance at the historic Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.

Adirondack hikers don’t just love the Berkshire Lakeside Lodge and Motel for its proximity to their favorite trail, it’s beautiful waterfront views of Greenwater Pond (boats and kayaks available to Lakeside guests), and it’s cozy complimentary continental breakfasts, they also love being close to cultural destinations like Jacob’s Pillow and the Norman Rockwell Museum. Located in stunning Becket, Lakeside has affordable peak rates and amazing mid-week pricing!

If you’re longing to truly immerse yourself in nature and get away from it all, you can’t beat camping in the Berkshires! Camping is also a super-affordable way to travel. But there’s no need to give up all luxuries. Mount Greylock Campsite Park located at the base of Mount Greylock State Reservation has a heated pool, an activity center, a playground, and a catch-and-release fishing pond! Granville State Forest offers fishing and horseback riding when you reserve one of their deep woods campsites, and if you’d rather rent a cabin than pitch a tent, check out Savoy Mountain State Forest with easy access to the Busby, Haskins, and Mahican/Mohawk trails. Find more campground ideas here.

No matter what your budget or how you enjoy spending your vacation time, affordable lodging in the Berkshires has you covered. Check out food and drinks, things to do, and more places to stay. Relaxing and unwinding has never been easier!
