Essential Job Functions

Position Overview

  • Supervision and evaluation of students in team-taught nursing programs to include simulation lab experiences.
  • Provides classroom and on-campus lab and off-campus clinical instruction (day, weekend, and/or evening assignments) each semester.
  • Provides instruction, advice, and oversight to nursing students and evaluates the students’ acquisition of nursing competence.
  • Participates in the systematic evaluation of all components of the program used for the development, maintenance, and revision of the nursing program.
  • Assists with preparation of reports required by accreditation and governing agencies, as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and program policies.
  • Participates in the student admission process.
  • Participate in college and program governance by serving on college committees as elected or appointed.
  • Responsible for student advising, college service, community service, and professional development in accordance with MCCC agreement.
  • Uses technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues as well as to enhance classroom learning as appropriate; integrate simulation technology into the nursing curriculum.
  • Maintains competence through academic and professional credentials, continuing education, and professional growth in accordance with MCCC agreement.
  • This position teaches in the ADN and PN programs.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license (in good standing) and a minimum of two years full-time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the past five years.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction.
  • Commitment to support student-centered, outcomes-based education.
  • Ability to incorporate multiple instructional strategies and integrate computer technology with instruction.
  • Recent background appropriate to teach acute medical/surgical nursing, fundamentals of nursing, pediatrics/maternity/child health, and mental health.
  • Applicants should be proven team-players with an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated, excellent teaching skills including teaching using interactive and varied pedagogical strategies, and experience with high-fidelity simulation.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably at a community college.
