Imagine sipping local cider at a fire pit while the leaves fall, digging into a hearty meal by a cozy hearth, or treating yourself to wine and a book by a roaring fire in your own room. Traveling during the warm weather seasons? Many of these amenities are available year-round. The following are a few chill places to warm up on your next cool trip to the Berkshires.
Gedney Farm (New Marlborough)
Find a charming farmhouse aesthetic at Gedney Farm where you can stay in an artfully renovated dairy barn that now hosts 16 guest rooms and suites, many boasting granite fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Firewood is provided, facilitating your in-room chill.
The Prairie Whale (Great Barrington)
Dine by a wood-burning stove in the chic, rustic main dining room at the Prairie Whale during winter months. This antique store-turned-restaurant serves creative farm-to-table fare featuring a seasonal menu that changes weekly.
Bonnie Brae Campground (Pittsfield)
If you’re traveling as a family or with a group, gather around the community fire pit at Bonnie Brae Campground close to Pontoosuc Lake in Pittsfield. You can stay in a cozy cabin or rent a site for RV or tent camping. The property has a swimming pool, picnic tables, wifi and free hot showers. Explore the outdoors by day and then relax by the fire at night.
Maple Terrace Motel (Williamstown)
After a day wandering through Williamstown, shopping along Spring Street or exploring museums, put your feet up by the outdoor fire pit surrounded by a stone patio at the Maple Terrace Motel. It’s the perfect nightcap after a Berkshire day.

Greylock Glen Outdoor Center
Greylock Glen (Adams)
One of the most impressive indoor fireplaces in the Berkshires can be found at the visitor center at the Greylock Glen, a destination for outdoor recreation and environmental education. You can hike or snowshoe 1,063 acres of woodlands and fields, all with a view of Mount Greylock, the state’s highest peak.
Blue Vista Motor Lodge (Florida)
Rest from the day’s adventures at Blue Vista Motor Lodge where you can unwind around two communal fire pits while taking in the view of Whitcomb Summit. Every room has a mountain view! Make the most of your rejuvenating stay with a trip to the sauna or soak in the hot tub.
