Easy ways to play and stay for less
Looking for affordable getaways in the Berkshires? Our guide helps you find comfy lodging and fun things to do that won’t break the bank!
When you’re planning a trip to the Berkshires, keep costs down with discounted tickets for local attractions, seasonal packages on lodgings, and free activities. Are you a student, active military, Massachusetts teacher, or EBT cardholder? Bring your ID and enjoy reduced rates at participating venues.
When you stay at the Williamstown Motel, for example, packages are available with discounted tickets to The Clark (plus, first Sundays at the museum are free from October to May). The museum grounds are always open to the public for walks. Berkshire Valley Inn, another budget-friendly option in Williamstown, offers SKI + STAY packages for Jiminy Peak, continental breakfast, an on-site dog park, and a (seasonal) pool. Nearby Williams College Museum of Art is always free.
If your travel plans include visiting Pittsfield’s Downtown Cultural District but you’re looking for affordable lodging outside the city limits, book an efficiency suite at Weathervane Motel in Lanesborough. After venturing out for a bike ride on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, visiting the free petting zoo and outdoor play yard at Whitney’s Farm, or exploring Ramblewild Adventure Park, unwind in the Weathervane’s outdoor Adirondack chairs. Rooms also have complimentary HBO.
Just south of Pittsfield, the Yankee Inn offers a convenient location close to Berkshire cultural and outdoor attractions plus seasonal discounted lift tickets for guests. Visit the Arcadian Shop nearby for your outdoor gear needs.
For a resort experience—and a 25% discount on website rates when you stay two nights or more—choose the Holiday Inn Oak n’ Spruce in South Lee (ends December 19th, 2024). From there, head for outlet shopping in Lee or museums and seasonal festivals in Stockbridge.
Traveling in the southern Berkshires? Make a reservation at Monument Mountain Motel in Great Barrington. Head downtown for art galleries and interesting shops then treat yourself to comfort food at Marketplace Kitchen or Xicohtencatl Mexican. Visit historic sites and landmarks on the Upper Housatonic Valley African American Heritage Trail. Or stop in at the tasting rooms at Berkshire Mountain Distillers and Big Elm Brewing.
And finally, if your idea of the ultimate Berkshire getaway involves sleeping in the great outdoors, go camping! Mt Greylock Campsite Park has a heated pool, an activity center, a playground, and a catch-and-release fishing pond. Granville State Forest offers fishing and horseback riding when you reserve one of their deep woods campsites. Bonnie Brae Campground offers full hookups for RVs. And if renting a cabin sounds even better, Savoy Mountain State Forest has year-round options. Discover more campground ideas here.
There’s something in the Berkshires for every budget, whether you’re looking for art and culture, getting outside, great food, or a quiet night in a tent. See you soon!
