Norman Rockwell Museum
Children’s book lovers won’t want to miss the Jan Brett: Stories Near and Far exhibit at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Learn about Brett’s art and travel experiences that inspired her many books and characters from favorites such as Gingerbread Friends, The Umbrella, Honey…Honey, and Cozy.
Berkshire Museum
Through May 8, Berkshire Museum offers families an exciting Voyage to the Deep, an interactive journey of underwater exploration through the legend of Nautilus submarine with Captain Nemo: “Discover Jules Verne’s mythical world of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, explore a Cabinet of Curiosities full of marine specimens, practice operating a submarine, and learn about the underwater world as seen from inside a deep-sea exploration vessel.”
Zoar Outdoor
Make unforgettable memories whitewater rafting class II and III rapids down the Deerfield River with Zoar Outdoor. Starting in April, book Zoar’s 10-mile Gap Rafting adventure to tackle rapids named Hurricane Hole, Freight Train, and Pinball. Choose from full or half day trips.
Robin’s Candy Store
Remember Nik’L’Nips, Wax Lips, and Pixi Stix? Robin’s curated collection is brimming with the largest selection of classics and “classics-in-the-making.” Come be a kid in a candy shop!
Berkshire Botanical Garden
This April 19 – 22, children ages 5 – 10 can join Berkshire Botanical Garden for four days of green fun! Activities include starting seeds, prepping garden beds, and exploring the gardens. Extended care available upon request.
MASS MoCA (Kidspace)
Kidspace is a child-centered art gallery and hands-on studio presenting exhibitions and educational experiences in collaboration with leading artists. The program focuses on contemporary social issues and expanding notions of art and art materials. Artists are selected for the educational and artistic merit of their work and their ability to connect to children (and adults). The ArtBar is a hands-on studio space located in Kidspace. Families are invited to drop in to make art that is thematically connected to current MASS MoCA exhibitions. The ArtBar is open to the public on weekends and during school breaks. Admission to Kidspace and the ArtBar is always free.
Hancock Shaker Village
The Berkshires living history museum, Hancock Shaker Village, opens on April 16th just in time for School Break – and the season kicks off with the beloved and much-anticipated Baby Animals exhibit! After meeting little lambs, fluffy chicks, and wobbly-legged calves, stroll through the historical buildings on grounds, each lunch at the cafe, and stop by Shaker Mercantile for penny candy and handmade wares.
Blue Rider Stables
Saddle up for a riding lesson at Blue Rider Stables where you’ll meet a gentle herd just waiting to interact. Lessons are relationship-focused, and riders are encouraged to pet and groom the horse before and after riding.
Berkshire East Mountain Resort
Get out and enjoy spring on the slopes! Try your hand at snow tubing, skiing, and snowboarding – including lessons weather permitting. Spring ski passes are now available through the end of the 2022 ski season.
Barrington Stage Company
Bitten by the show biz bug? Join Barrington Stage Company’s renowned KidsAct! (ages 7–11) and TeensAct! (ages 12–15). These one-of-a-kind programs run April 18 through April 22 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Wolfson Theatre Center in Pittsfield with a final performance on Friday, April 22. Activities focus on acting and improvisation skills through fun theater games and the creation of an original musical to be performed for parents and friends on the final day of the program.
Berkshire Theatre Group
Get your tickets for Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dark KIDS on Sat 4/23. This is an adaptation of the first of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House book series, which has sold more than 100 million copies and is available in more than 100 countries around the world.
