Position Summary
1Berkshire seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Marketing Associate to join our dynamic team. This early-career position is ideal for individuals looking to build a career foundation in marketing, with a focus on essential administrative, database, and content execution support. This role offers direct mentorship from the SVP of Tourism and Marketing and the Marketing Manager, providing a clear path for advancement into specialized content or digital marketing roles. Candidates must possess strong written communication, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Job Functions
Key Responsibilities
Social Media, Website, and Database Support
- Execute and track the social media plan across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). This includes drafting the content calendar for review, compiling performance metrics under the supervision of the Marketing Manager, and daily postings across most platforms.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of member data within the Member Clicks database.
- Assist in maintaining seamless data flow between the Member Clicks database, primary digital platforms (berkshires.org and 1berkshire.com), and printed collateral.
- Participate in uploading articles, press releases, and images across primary digital platforms.
- Manage and optimize the berkshires.org event calendar to drive visitor engagement and ensure key member events are prominently featured
Marketing and Communications Collaboration
- Support the comprehensive advertising workflow, including media scheduling, sales coordination, deadline tracking, ad collection, and editorial review for publications.
- Proofread and edit high-quality content, including blog posts, email newsletters, and website feature articles, ensuring accurate and consistent messaging for our member businesses, for 1Berkshire and for the Berkshires.
- Assist in the creation, ad sales, and collection and distribution of our publications.
- Track and compile key performance metrics related to public relations efforts and publications distribution to support marketing analysis.
- Facilitate and coordinate familiarization tours in collaboration with the SVP, public relations consultant, members, and visiting journalists.
- Provide essential support to the marketing team and cross-functional 1Berkshire departments as required.
Administrative and General Duties
- Successfully complete assigned independent and group projects while rigorously managing competing deadlines.
- Respond efficiently and professionally to all requests for information.
- Perform other duties as required, including, but not limited to, special event support and general marketing tasks.
Qualifications
Key Qualifications
Technical Proficiency
- Working knowledge of WordPress (specifically back-end content management).
- Familiarity with key administrative and marketing software is essential. Experience with the following is highly valued: Canva, MailChimp, Adobe (InDesign), Asana, and Google/Microsoft Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, and LinkedIn) as a frequent user.
- Experience with AI tools and membership database systems (e.g., Member Clicks) is a plus.
- Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics preferred.
Professional Competencies
- Exceptional organizational and administrative capabilities, with a proven ability to manage detailed projects.
- Strong writing, editing, proofing, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive working relationships with members and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of, or prior experience in, marketing principles.
- Familiarity with the Berkshires, membership organizations, tourism marketing, and economic development is a strong asset.
- A strong collaborative spirit and commitment to teamwork.
Other Information
Compensation and Work Arrangement
Salary Range: $50,000-55,000
Work Location/Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) in our Pittsfield office. Also throughout the year required on-site presence at events, site visits, and meetings throughout the County offers valuable opportunities to directly engage with our members and experience the region you market.
