The Berkshire County Historical Society welcomes authors Laurie Gwen Shapiro and Debby Applegate to Arrowhead on October 15 for a conversation about the art of documenting an event or person’s life, whether in film or in print. Laurie Gwen Shapiro is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist whose writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, New York, The Daily Beast, Slate, and others. Debby Applegate’s first book, The Most Famous Man in America: The Biography of Henry Ward Beecher, her riveting account of the famous 19th-century preacher, abolitionist and Berkshire resident, won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
