Titled Mothers, Sisters, Daughters: Family & Diversity in New French & Francophone Film, this year’s Williams French Film Festival features recent films from France and Belgium that focus on a diverse spectrum of women in the French-speaking world. From new moms in Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne’s Young Mothers (2025), to queer love in  Hafsia Herzi’s The Little Sister (2025), to cultural identity in Davy Chou’s Return to Seoul (2022), these films examine the complexities of maternity & motherhood, queer sexuality & romance, adoption and self-discovery.
