The Berkshires are and always have been a mix of new and old. Old mountains with new trails, historic Tanglewood with contemporary artists, and timeless art pieces housed in the renovated Sterling and Clark Art Museum. This reaches almost every facet for those visiting the Berkshires. Even with a plethora of historic mansions and inns full of memorable charm the Berkshires are becoming the spot for new hotels too. If you want to enjoy the juxtaposition of new and old charm while you are in the Berkshires then read on below for a few recommendations.
A great, newly renovated option is the Hampton Inn and Suites located in Lenox. Consistently ranked one of the top hotels in the Berkshires on sites like Yelp and TripAdvisor, it ranks in the top 3% of all Hampton Hotels in the US. Guests are treated to over the top customer service, a fitness area, complimentary hot breakfast each morning, a year-round pool, laundry service, and baggage storage. The rooms are new, spacious, and luxurious. Additionally, the entire property has recently undergone extensive upgrades!
The newly opened Hotel on North in Pittsfield will be just what you are looking for. Formerly two department stores built in the late 1800s, they had seen a few renovations since. Then, this past summer, they were completely renovated into a boutique hotel that boasts amenities, unlike most, larger hotels. Once you have checked in, be sure to wander downstairs to their full-service restaurant and bar, Eat on North. There is no pool, but there is a spacious fitness center with onsite changing rooms and even a shoeshine service. Their best on-site amenity was built into the hotel, the atrium lounges on the 2nd and 3rd floor allow sunlight to filter in from a skylight. Business meetings are easily accommodated through versatile meeting and event spaces that host intimate gatherings or expansive receptions of up to 200 people. If your Berkshire adventure allows you to stay here longer, Hotel on North has extended stay rooms that offer full kitchenettes, full-size refrigerators, over-under washer/dryers, and kitchen appliances like toasters, coffee makers, and microwaves. You get all the comforts of your home in your hotel!
Planning ahead? Be amongst the first to check out the Hilton Garden Inn, set to open in August 2015. Conveniently located behind Guido’s, a delicious local food market, near the Pittsfield/Lenox line. On-site, you can enjoy their pool or grab a drink at the bar located in their Garden Grille before you head out to enjoy a day or night in the Berkshires.
No matter where you select to stay, be assured that great service will be provided and the staff will go out of their way to make each visitor feel special and accommodated. This is part of the Berkshire charm, an old world looks with a new attitude.
