Valentine’s Day is often referred to as the day you go above and beyond to show love to your partner, but love is not reserved just for the one we found in life, it’s also abundant for the ones we are nurturing. While chocolates, dinner and flowers may show the one you love, how much you care, there is a host of activities and options to show your whole family how much you love them.
Are you a family of animal lovers? Berkshire Community College has the perfect Valentine’s Day event for you. They are hosting the 15th Annual Not Your Average Dog Show will be held on Sunday, February 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at BCC’s Paterson Field House at 1350 West St. in Pittsfield. Admission is free and your family will enjoy watching all kinds of pups be judged in ten different and adorable categories like best dressed, best kisser and fastest tail wager. This event will also feature pet caricatures, pet selfies, a children’s table where they can color a valentine for your pooch, and concessions.
But maybe you’re the outdoorsy family and you think there is no better way to show someone you love them, then by spending time with them? A fun, low-cost day for the whole family can be found at Bartholomew’s Cobble, 117 Cooper Hill Rd, Sheffield, MA. The Trustees of Reservations property welcomes families on Sunday, the 14th for family snowshoeing. Grab some snowshoes, get some fresh air, and then chat over a cup of hot cocoa in the Visitor Center. They have snowshoes available on first come, first-serve basis in adult and children’s sizes. Admission to the Cobble is FREE to members and $7 for nonmember adults and $3 for nonmember children.
