Review: Good ‘Company’ in the Berkshires

Stephen Sondheim’s seminal 1970 classic, “Company,” is currently in very good voice at the Barrington Stage Company, one of the most popular summer theatre companies in the scenic Berkshires area. Located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and only a two hour drive or less from Connecticut, the theatre has had quite a strong summer season. With music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by George Furth, “Company” takes a jaundiced look at the state of marriage as observed by central character Bobby (Aaron Tveit) who is single and currently observing his 35th birthday. Bobby has five couples in his life, all in various stages of marital distress, who live vicariously through his seemingly carefree lifestyle. In a series of meetings with each of the couples, Bobby begins to question the institution of marriage and if it really is for him. Read more about Good Company >>
