Off the Beaten Path: Housatonic

Nestled in the shadow of the Berkshire town of Great Barrington lies the small village of Housatonic, along the river of the same name. A former bustling mill town, these days Housatonic is described by some residents as “the land that time forgot,” a throwback to a bygone era that houses a surprisingly eclectic group of townspeople, artists and unique businesses. Arlo Guthrie’s famed church is around the corner from not one but two recording studios, and Hollywood special effects magic was created in some of its old mills. Producer Tony Dunne and Videographer Mark Langevin peel back the small-town veneer to find the heart and soul of the village of Housatonic, which lies just off the beaten path.
