Golden Leaf Ragtime Blues takes place in the early 1990s, post-LA Riots, exploring the unusual connection between a Black teenager and an aging Jewish vaudevillian through comedy and music.

Taking place over the course of one afternoon, Golden Leaf Ragtime Blues illustrates how the basic human need for connection cuts across the barriers of race, religion, and age. It’s been recently reworked by playwright Charles Smith, with the involvement of Director Raz Golden, and will be presented in its current form for the first time at Shakespeare & Company.
