Berkshire Museum’s Little Cinema: King Lear: National Theatre Live
August 13 | 1:00 pm - 12:00 am
Berkshire Museum is proud to announce an engaging lineup of screenings in Little Cinema. Through partnerships with Exhibition on Screen, National Theatre Live, and Great Art on Screen, Berkshire Museum brings exciting pieces of art and culture to Pittsfield. King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a king, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends. Jonathan Munby directs this “nuanced and powerful” (The Times) contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tender, violent, moving and shocking play.
Best enjoyed by adults and teens.
Runtime: 3 hours and 47 minutes (including one intermission) – August 11, 13, and 14
