The Many Trails of the Stockbridge Indians – Talk and Walk

Explore the Native American Lands in the Berkshires. In this 2-part program Rob Hoogs will take you on a journey to learn about the Mohicans and the history of the lands around the Bidwell House Museum.

On Saturday, Rob will give a 1-hour lecture via Zoom. This lecture will give highlights about the local history of the Stockbridge Indians, as well as a brief overview of the Bidwell House Museum’s Native American Interpretive Trail Exhibits. A Q&A will follow at the end.

On Sunday, Rob will follow up the lecture with a 1-hour guided walk of the Native American Interpretive trail on the Museum property. Stops will include exhibits on Projectile Points and Stone Tools, Medicinal Herbs, Agricultural Practices, A Wigwam Hunting Village, Land Management Practices, An Indian Path, and Maple Sugaring. The guided walk is limited to 10 persons. There is some uneven terrain on the hike so dress appropriately
