Come Support the BMC Cancer Center

Attend the Berkshire Medical Center Cancer Center fundraiser.

Please join BMC at their upcoming Garden Party Wine & Beer Tasting on August 29th, 2015 from 4-7PM to help support the center and its services for patients. With your help, Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) is committed to providing services that support patients and families during and after their cancer experiences.

The BMC Cancer Center provides care to over 600 new patients a year. State of the art evidence-based care is provided to patients in the hope of improving both survival and quality of life during and following cancer treatment. Treatment is often financially devastating for families and some go without effective treatments in order to reduce financial distress. Financial stress has been shown to reduce survival and can be divided into two categories.

These two categories are expenses associated with traditional medical treatment or not receiving treatments that are in or outside of traditional health care, those commonly known as integrative health modalities. The financial distress can result from expenses associated with standard health care, including deductibles, nutritional support, copays for medications and physician appointments and even the ability to get to treatment. Today, BMC tries to provide individual assistance to patients and families when needed. All patient care assistance is a result of donations to targeted funds.

There is a growing body of evidence that well-known modalities, commonly known as integrative health, can improve survival and the daily experiences of patients living with cancer.  Although these modalities reduce pain and improve sleep, survival, and well-being, almost universally these modalities are not reimbursed by any health plan. This results in many cancer centers being unable to provide critical services. Today BMC Cancer Center provides massage, acupuncture, support groups, yoga and exercise classes, nutrition counseling and education, relaxation and visual imagery training along with financial and social work counseling.

Without the help of our community, BMC may be unable to continue to provide the new and innovative programs that improve survival and quality of life.  So purchase your tickets today and join them for a memorable evening of food and drink all in support of a fantastic cause in the Berkshires.
