The Berkshires of Western Massachusetts has had a long-standing reputation for attracting visitors who long for the variety of outdoor offerings. Whether it is enjoying an evening concert at Tanglewood, picking apples at Hilltop Orchards, or white water rafting with Zoar Outdoor. The region truly offers something for everyone who enjoys the outdoors, including a wealth of options for the visiting golfer. If you have not added a golfing element to your Berkshire itineraries you are missing out, it is a perfect addition. Here is some information about our area courses so you can select the ones that would work best for your group.

Visit the Wahconah Country Club in Dalton and your group can play the golf course where Bobby Jones played his final round. While visiting family in August of 1948, shortly after finishing what is now the 9th hole, Jones penned a note stating “This was my final effort, sorry it was not a better one.” That note hangs in the USGA Golf House in Far Hills, New Jersey. Wahconah’s historical significance is well matched by the golf course’s beauty. As they approach the first tee they will get their first taste of the beautiful vistas that will enchant. The course conditions are always superb while offering five sets of tees to help ensure all skill levels an enjoyable round. If your group is looking to turn back the clock and enjoy a great golfing experience visit Wahconah Country Club.

Play Taconic Golf Club, adjacent to Williams College in Williamstown. Taconic Golf Club has received many accolades over the years. It was voted the best public golf course to play in Massachusetts by Golf Magazine, ranked 39th in the country for golf courses you can play, and 2nd in the country for College/University golf courses by Golf Digest. In short, Taconic Golf Club is a special place in the world of golf. The re-design by Gil Hans opened sight lines through the entire property. When reaching the properties highest point golfers can see north through the brick buildings of Williamstown and the entire upper valley. A truly remarkable sight during the fall foliage season!

There are many other great golfing options to explore while visiting the Berkshires. Whether it is Egremont Country Club in Great Barrington, Greenock Country Club in Lee, Pontoosuc Lake Country Club in Pittsfield, or Skyline Country Club in Lanesborough, your group will enjoy this addition to their itinerary and be able to spend time outdoors and taking in scenic views of the Berkshires.
