Wondering where to go in the Berkshires for a late-night bite, beverage or live music? Here are five of the best after-dark hot spots that will not disappoint:
Lion’s Den, Red Lion Inn; Stockbridge
Downstairs from the Red Lion Inn on Main Street, Lion’s Den offers tasty pub fare until 11 pm on weekends with live music by some of the area’s top musicians. The laid-back tavern atmosphere is popular with theater- and concert-goers. You might even run into the performers you just applauded at the Berkshire Theater Festival or Tanglewood.
Castle Street Café, Great Barrington
Next door to the world-class Mahaiwe Theater, the Celestial Bar at Castle Street Café is a casually elegant space that’s buzzing after a show. Live jazz and a kitchen that stays open until 10:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays keeps this intimately cool space lively until closing. Chef/owner Michael Ballon’s seasonal bar menus highlight the freshest flavors of the Berkshires. Tip: try out some of the local wines, beers, and spirits they have on their menu.
PUBLIC eat+drink, North Adams
Craving the fresh flavors of Berkshire farms and food artisans? You’ll find something for every appetite at Jared Decouteau’s industrial-styled nightspot in the heart of downtown North Adams. Try local cheeses or the house-made duck pate. Savor flavorful steaks, chops, fish, pasta, and flatbreads or order one of the best burgers in the Berkshires, and add an unforgettable side of mouthwatering, pecorino-topped truffle fries. On weekends, the kitchen serves until 10:00 p.m. The bar is open until midnight, serving an extensive selection of craft and draft beers, wines, and creative cocktails.
This cozy, European-style wine bar in downtown Lenox serves up small plates and hearty individual pizzas until midnight. With an extensive wine list that received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, owner, Whitney Asher, and his knowledgeable bar staff are happy to help you find a glass that suits your taste. There’s plenty here for beer drinkers, too. In addition to the brews on tap, Brava serves more than 80 craft beers from around the world and they are open until 1:00 am every night.
Enoteca Wine Bar at Trattoria Rustica, Pittsfield
New to the late-night scene in the Berkshires, the Enoteca wine bar at Davide Manzo’s Trattoria Rustica offers Italian cocktails and wines with a tapas menu until closing. Try a refreshing mixed drink made with Campari or prosecco. Nibble on cured beef with arugula and parmeggiano or dive into the house-made fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil. Better yet, order both dishes and share!
Wherever you go, the late-night scene in the Berkshires is about relaxing and unwinding with good food and great company. And my guess is, that’s exactly why you’re here. Enjoy!
