Painted Piano Project

July 18 - August 25

15 pianos, each decorated by an artist to celebrate their home community, go on display at various locations throughout the Berkshires. These pianos, or panels from them, will be auctioned off at BMS on 8/26. Watch for pop up concerts, special programs, etc. Great photo op!

Since 1978, Chesterwood has hosted an outdoor sculpture show and kinetic artist, George Rickey, was one of the most notable sculptors to participate in the first exhibition. Rickey’s work and other distinguished American sculptors will be featured in this year’s show. Guest curators are Maxwell Davidson III and Charles Davidson of the Maxwell Davidson Gallery in New York. Exhibition is sponsored by the Nancy Woodson Spire Foundation.

Celebrating the rich, creative culture of the region, Art of the Hills highlights the works of both emerging and established Berkshire-based artists working in all styles and genres. Forty-two works of art by 36 artists were chosen by juror/curator Ryan Seslow through a blind jurying process; the exhibition includes painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, photography, and sculpture.
