Chinese Art: Traditional Chinese Brush Painting with Zhong-hua Lu
An event every day that begins at 12:00am, repeating until December 9, 2018
Chinese brush painting is about the balance of nature and the interrelatedness and complexity of all things. Xie yi hua is one kind of traditional style of painting. Students will learn philosophical, cultural, and technical aspects of this ancient art, a language of symbolic brush strokes. Working on rice paper with Chinese ink and watercolors, students will learn step-by-step how to control brush, color, and water to create natural motifs, from rocks, trees, birds, fish, flowers and bees to complex mountain landscapes. This focused practice has a meditative, calming effect on the artist. Beginning and advanced students are all welcome.
