    The best way to travel to and around the Berkshires is by car. The Berkshires covers 950 square miles and are 45 miles from Albany, 135 miles from Boston, 90 miles from Hartford and 147 miles from New York City. There are no major airports within the confines of the Berkshires but there are small regional airports in Pittsfield, Great Barrington and North Adams. There closest international airports are in Albany, Hartford, NYC and Boston. Bus service is also available for those who don't own a car.
