February is Creative Economy Month in the Berkshires. The month that we showcase our many local museums, theaters, festivals, cinemas, and historic sites. We also highlight the importance of individual artists, small businesses, creative manufacturer’s, cultural organizations, creative consumers and their contributions. These creative businesses are an integral part of the robust and growing Berkshire creative economy and we are fortunate to have so many here to choose from.
The Berkshires’ creative economy accounts for over 6,000 jobs in the region and is recognized as a valued community asset spurring economic growth. Creativity lives here and generates downtown redevelopment, encourages innovation, and makes the Berkshires a more dynamic place to live and work. The creative organizations, people, products, and services in the Berkshires are incredibly unique. The quality of these assets defines our region as a place full of aesthetic, intellectual, and emotional value. In 2016, the National Center for Arts Research released their second annual NCAR Arts Vibrancy Index Report and ranked our region as the 12th most arts vibrant small-to-mid-sized community in the nation.
The quality of life here is enhanced because of our commitment to supporting arts vibrancy and encouraging creative economy growth. If you want to be a part of the creative energy in the Berkshires let 1Berkshire help you relocate here. 1Berkshire is a countywide organization focused on economic development and promotion of the region to visit, to live, and to grow a business. It provides important resources for the creative community and connects those working in the creative sector to other opportunities.
At 1Berkshire the focus is on five key components that creative individuals and businesses need to grow and thrive: business development, access to capital, talent, and visibility. You can be a part of it. Come and get creative with us. #creativityliveshere #intheberkshires #liveBRK
