Girlfriend Getaway Ideas

The Berkshires are an ideal destination for a Girlfriend Getaway. Whatever time of year and wherever in the county you plan to visit, the Berkshires offer up a bounty of fun. So, gather up your favorite gal pals and make plans for memories that will last a lifetime!

Regardless of where you make your home base, your group will find a wide variety of activities to enjoy, from the rugged outback to refined elegance; there is something for everyone in this area. Make reservations at the Garden Gables Inn and use it as a base for your group’s adventures. This B&B has a welcoming, heated pool during seasonal weather, a fabulous petit salon for a bit of pampering and is in the heart of Lenox, so hitting the town is a cinch. Start the day with a breakfast of local and organic dishes that the inn serves up every morning. From there head over to their other Berkshire businesses, Hilltop Orchards and Furnace Brook Winery, take some time to visit the winery and partake in their wine tastings (guests of the inn have an unlimited sampling opportunity) and then head on out for a hike on one of their trails, pick apples (in season) or pack a picnic lunch and just enjoy the gorgeous scenery. The orchard also offers full moon hikes and a bonfire on select dates. You may also find fun in following the Hudson and Berkshire Beverage Trail, which follows a path to local, participating wineries in the area.

Get a massage and relax with your gal pals.

Another great Girlfriend Getaway spot is Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort. Enjoy a girls’ spa day, which is never a bad idea and be sure to stop off at their spa gift shop so you can continue to pamper yourself at home after your visit or maybe your group wants to hit the links, a round of golf at Cranwell is sure to delight. For dinner, head on out to one of the local eateries, choices range from the exquisite Chez Nous Bistro in Lee to the warm and delicious Frankie’s Ristorante Italiano in Lenox. After that catch a show at Shakespeare and Company or at The Mahaiwe Theatre. If the gals are still up for more fun after that, continue over to Moe’s bar, in Lee, where they feature 17 beers on tap (as well as a wide selection of other unusual beers) or head over to The Lion’s Den, for some nightly musical entertainment.

If you are looking for an adventurous time, you’ll find plenty to do in Berkshire County. The Appalachian Trail runs through the Berkshires, and if hiking is in your plans, you’ll find plenty of strenuous and beautiful trails. If your plans bring you to the Berkshires in the warmer months you can book a bunk room with the girls at Bascom Lodge atop Mt. Greylock. There is the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, in Lanesborough, which is a re-purposed rail trail that goes from Lanesborough to Adams. Here you can walk, bike or rollerblade along the bucolic trail. Lakeview Orchard offers a chance for you to get a taste of the Berkshires, by picking your own fruit (apples, plums, berries). In Becket, you will find Jacob’s Pillow. The Pillow is America’s ‘longest running dance festival’ and during the summer offers a multitude of dance performances. The Inside/Out stage is a fabulous outdoors stage where performances are always free and the backdrop is the stunning Berkshire mountains, truly a unique experience.
