When you walk in the door of this country inn, which has been meticulously restored, classical music fills the air. On occasion, a guest may play the piano as you sip sherry (or wine from the local Richmond vineyard; the mead is excellent!) and cuddle up by the fireplace with a book. You may also catch a waft of fresh chocolate chip cookies baked by chef and innkeeper Denise Altland (try the flourless chocolate cake as well), who arranges services for guests and may cook you dinner. Down the hall, you will find Lenox Petit Spa, which includes three well-appointed rooms, one of which can accommodate couples massage. Signature Naturopathica products are used in the body treatments which include anything from stone to sports massage. My personal favorite, the sugar scrub and wrap, is in high demand right now given the winter season. This service is the solution to dry itchy skin brought on by the cold. Located walking distance from downtown Lenox, Garden Gables is a top choice for lodging in the Berkshires. I highly recommend the rooms in the main guest house although the satellite buildings are nice as well. The innkeeper has an eye for detail, and TripAdvisor is rife with reviews praising her work. The décor and character of this inn is charming and the spa is the ultimate in relaxation. Plus, Garden Gables now invites non-guests to enjoy Lenox Petit Spa!
